Available Now, Art: Become Confident Fast
During our initial exploration of The Art Circuit we noticed that most people are less comfortable with visual art than other cultural pursuits such as music, films and books. We were certainly included in that group. Aron spent the first year reading every art book he could find, in order to have the knowledge and credibility to help identify and share art with our community.
Introductory art books are quite segmented - predominantly around linear art history or maybe aesthetic philosophy, with a huge dose of coffee table tomes we rarely lift. They aren't structured as practical advice that could immediately improve your art experiences, nor do they seem structured for easy reading. Our goal with Art: Become Confident Fast was to help frame and discover the visual art experience in a way that's more helpful for situations where you will actually find yourself.
There's always a danger in reductionism for a book like this - short cuts and hacks often gloss over critical issues and subtleties. With a topic like art that's especially possible. It was our attempt to avoid that, to present numerous angels and ultimately to pose the questions that could start conversations.
A note about the cover. We asked for votes between the two covers below. Hopes of definitive market feedback were dashed by an exact tie. We chose the cover that seems more provocative (At top, along with changing some of the text) rather than the one that many of us consider more visually appealing. Maybe that will help a few more people to pause when they see the image.
